"There are a lot of people … that think this stock is a dangerous stock," Jim said. The next earnings report to shed light on demand for Nvidia's AI chips is set for Tuesday evening when Club name Amazon releases first-quarter results. While Amazon also has custom AI chips, it's a sizable Nvidia customer and the companies have enjoyed a longtime partnership. Even electric vehicle maker Tesla indicated earlier this week that it plans to buy tens of thousands more Nvidia chips this year to support self-driving car efforts.

Honeywell shares are under pressure Thursday, despite the industrial conglomerate exceeding expectations for first-quarter sales and earnings. The culprits: Softer guidance for the current quarter and some uncertainty about a recovery in some of its key businesses. Honeywell Why we own it: Honeywell is a provider of industrial technology solutions to companies in various industries. Building automation was down year over year as growth in the longer-cycle solutions business was offset by continued weakness in the shorter-cycle products business. It exited the quarter with $108 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities on its balance sheet, compared with $110.9 billion at the end of 2023. At 20 cents a share, Alphabet's dividend yield stands at 0.51% based on Thursday's close.

Ford Motor on Wednesday evening delivered higher than expected profits in the first quarter, driven by strength in its commercial business. Quarterly commentary Ford Blue , which represents Ford's gas-powered and hybrid vehicles, saw volumes and revenues down 11% and 13%, respectively. The lower volumes shouldn't be much of a surprise given Ford's pivot toward making more in-demand hybrids and ICE vehicles. Ford raised its adjusted free cash flow outlook for the year by $500 million to between $6.5 billion and $7.5 billion. Lowered capex with higher profits is what we want to see because greater capital efficiency should translate to a higher multiple.

Here's a rapid-fire update on all 33 stocks in Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust, the portfolio we use for the CNBC Investing Club. META YTD mountain Meta Platforms YTD We obviously don't like what we are seeing after hours in the stock. While expecting a similar dynamic to play out now with AI investments, Zuckerberg fully expects the end result to be similar as the team scales its offerings and then begins to monetize the investments.
